New version of IRender nXt and ArielVision renders 2X faster!

We found some compiler settings which have made renderings run more than 2 times faster than previous versions on many models. This is very exciting because with faster renderings you can complete the rendering in less time, or let it run for more passes, and a better rendering, in the same amount of time

If your version is from before March 9, 2015 (earlier than OC09) download the latest version of IRender nXt or ArielVision from:

http://www.renderplus.com/wp2/download/

If you purchased or renewed your license in the past 12 months, you can use the latest version.

If your license is more than 12 months old, you will need to renew it to use the latest version.

(Licenses which start with IPNC..., ICNC..., or AVNC... or a higher code are valid for this new release)

If your license is older, you can renew it at:

http://www.renderplus.com/htm/renew_license.htm

nXtRender for AutoCAD users -  we will be releasing a faster version for AutoCAD today or tomorrow. Watch the downloads page for a version OC09 or later. Or return to this blog, or visit our nXtRender for AutoCAD forum:

Sample rendering of model with no setting changes

I was viewing this video - one of the first created by Dennis, and I remembered how neat it was that he was able to make a great rendering of a model he found on the 3D warehouse without making or changing any renderings settings - just pushing the green button and rendering.

Three.js - Interactive 3D models on your web site

3D PDFs - especially those create with RPS 3D PDF or the 3D Design Studio - can be very good for letting clients see your models in 3D and zoom and rotate them. However, 3D PDF can only be displayed using Adobe Reader - and most browsers come now with other PDF readers installed - and cannot view 3D PDF models.

So we have added another popular 3D Format - Three.js - to our products so you can created Three.js models and embed them into your web site.

Here are a couple of samples you can take a look at.

Rendering of the Month - June 2015

Home Rendering, New York by Richard Russ

Richard was kind enough to share some of his thoughts with us:

This image is actually a model I created for a home builder here in NY. This is one of 8 homes I rendered for them over the last 12 months.

Model was created in Sketchup and rendered with your Render Plus software. This particular model needed to show the proposed sloped site and lower entry garage.

The sandbox and drape tools in SU played an important part of the models success. Using the HDRI background and IRender nXt ready shrubs and trees helped to bring the model to life.

I always find setting the correct sun angle, intensity and time of day to be the key to a believable model. The needs to be a difference between shade and shadow to look natural.

Casting shadows on the foreground give the model depth as well as the proper layering of elements in the render. Slight adjustments to the brightness and color saturation are done right in the NXT render tools.

I particularly like that the rendering properties of each surface / element can be set while working in the SU model making moving between the model and the render seamless.

No other post-processing was used.

This and other rendered models are stored on my YOUTUBE channel Intelliframer Videos

cave13 by Ivo vVordavov

Cave131.jpg

We liked this rendering because of the application of textures, reflections, and natural lighting make this a memorable rendering.

Notice, for example, that every modeled surface has an applied material and these materials are properly scaled, are textured appropriately, and the reflection on the floor is particularly convincing.

And the lighting from sunlight entering through the arched door is especially effective.

RPCs for SketchUp Announcement

RPS Street 800.gif
ArchVision and Render Plus are pleased to announce new products supporting RPC in your SketchUp workflow.
ArchVision recently released an RPC Plug-in for SketchUp that makes placing RPCs directly in your SketchUp model a snap. After installing the plug-in, simply click on the RPC Selection button in SketchUp and browse from thousands of RPCs available with an RPC Subscription license.
ArchVision RPC subscription licenses provide access to thousands of render-ready photorealistic People, Trees & Plants, Automobiles and other Objects for as little as $249 per year. RPC is supported natively or via plug-in in the world's leading design visualization solutions including Autocad, Revit, 3ds Max, Microstation, FormZ, Rhino, Modo, and now SketchUp!
The RPC Plug-in provides you with the ability to switch from "Model" to "Preview" mode for image-based RPCs (2D, 2.5D, 3D & 3.5D) displaying a single, camera-facing RPC directly in the SketchUp model. When you're ready to take your renderings to another level add one of Render Plus' external renderers to the mix for full RPC rendering support.
Render Plus has updated the full line of SketchUp renderers (3D Design Studio, IRender nXt, and ArielVision) to fully support RPC rendering including 3D+ RPCs such as automobiles. As you can see from the image above, the ease of adding photorealistic RPC architectural entourage and rendering with a Render Plus renderer can bring new life to your SketchUp renderings.
For a limited time, Render Plus has a special offer for RPC users. Customers can purchase an ArielVision subscription to render RPCs for half price - just $6.00 per month, (or get a $6.00 per month discount on other Render Plus rendering products, 3D Design Studio and IRender nXt) if purchased before September 30, 3015.
Everything you need to get started with RPC in SketchUp can be found here. To learn more about using RPCs with ArielVision and IRender nXt click here .

Kestrel House by Mike Atkinson
KestrelHouse3.png

Mike was kind enough to share some of his thoughts with us:
Kestrel House was designed by a local Architect who had seen my work and needed visuals preparing for his client and the planning officers at the local council. I worked off CAD drawings in Sketchup and prepared an accurate 3D model. This is a crucial stage in preparing photoreal visuals. Architectural detail must be accurate. (My background as an Architectural Technician helps as I can read and interpret construction drawings). The planning officer wanted to see the building in context to the site so we had to make it look as realistic as possible. I went to site and took some shots of the views that I wanted to re-create.
The architect had specified materials and supplied me with photos of particular colour and texture choices. I have built up a vast library of textures and bookmarked several key sites that offer realistic images that render well. At the SU stage we tried several material and colour changes until we had a natural looking palette to compliment the rural setting.
The pond is actually there on site and I took a photograph across the water from a low vantage point.
We liked this rendering because the perspective incorporates an actual site that allows the client to see their proposed building and the proximity to the pond.
The reflection of the building in the pond is a very nice attention to detail and the natural lighting on the model matches the sky and site photograph very well.

SketchUp Rendering Case Study, RSD / Total Controls

$

Tyrone Tucker from RSD / Total Controls recently shared his experience with ArielVision, a Render Plus rendering extension for SketchUp. Tyrone incorporates completed renderings into a browser enabled interface for his customers.

StackedView.jpg

In Tyrone’s own words: I work for RSD / Total Controls. We provide parts and smarts for the HVAC and Refrigeration industry. In the Total Control division we build 508 UL listed industrial control panels and provide control systems for Building Automation.
This includes controls for operating:
  • Air Conditioning Units
  • Fan Coils
  • VAV’s
  • Chillers
  • Boilers
  • Pumps
  • Built Up Systems, and others

The information is networked back to a head end device called a Supervisory Controller. The end user can access the system locally or remotely over the Internet with any web browser. The interface enables a view of the graphic images that I rendered. For example, below is a stacked view of a building in Los Angeles, CA. I created the model with SketchUp and renderings with ArielVision.
